Workers AI Translator Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Workers AI Translator is a browser extension that translates web content using the user's own Cloudflare Workers AI account. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension processes, how that information is used, where it is stored, and when it is transmitted to third parties.

1. Summary

Workers AI Translator is designed to minimize data collection. The extension does not operate an intermediary translation server and does not sell user data.

Translation requests are sent directly from the extension to Cloudflare using the Cloudflare account that the user has authorized through OAuth.

Most extension settings, translation cache data, glossary entries, usage statistics, and authentication information are stored locally in the user's browser using Chrome extension storage.

2. Information the Extension Processes

2.1 Cloudflare Account Information

When you connect a Cloudflare account, the extension may receive and locally store information necessary to identify the Cloudflare account you authorized, including:

  • Cloudflare Account ID
  • Cloudflare Account name
  • Cloudflare account membership information required to select an authorized account

This information is used only to connect translation requests to the Cloudflare account selected by you.

2.2 Authentication Information

Workers AI Translator uses Cloudflare OAuth to connect to your Cloudflare account. The extension may locally store OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens so that you do not need to authorize the extension again for every translation.

The extension does not ask for or store your Cloudflare password.

OAuth credentials are not transmitted to servers operated by Workers AI Translator or chatgpt.org.uk. They are used only for communication with Cloudflare services.

2.3 Website Content

To perform translations, the extension may process text that is visible or available on webpages you visit. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

  • Readable webpage text
  • Headings, navigation items, buttons, labels, and other visible interface text
  • Text that you select and request to translate
  • Text you hover over while using the hover-translation feature
  • Text entered into an input field when you explicitly use input translation
  • Visible YouTube subtitles when YouTube subtitle translation is enabled

Text is processed only as necessary to provide the extension's translation features. Code blocks, configuration data, hidden webpage elements, and other excluded content are intentionally skipped where supported by the extension.

2.4 Personal Communications

If you use Workers AI Translator on a website containing personal communications, such as webmail, messaging, forum, or chat services, the text you explicitly translate may contain personal communications.

For example, if you use the input translation feature while writing a message, the text selected for translation is processed in order to provide the translation.

Workers AI Translator does not independently monitor, collect, or archive your emails, messages, or conversations.

2.5 Extension Settings and Preferences

The extension stores settings locally so that your preferences are preserved. These settings may include:

  • Target translation language
  • Selected Workers AI model
  • Interface language
  • Translation scope and display mode
  • Automatic translation preferences
  • Hover and input translation preferences
  • YouTube subtitle translation preferences
  • Translation style
  • Custom translation instructions
  • Custom glossary entries
  • Website-specific translation rules

2.6 Website-Specific Rules

If you choose to configure a website-specific rule, such as "Always translate" or "Never translate," the extension may store that website's domain name locally.

Workers AI Translator does not create or transmit a general history of the webpages you visit. Domain names stored for site rules are used only to apply the preferences you explicitly configure.

2.7 Translation Cache

Workers AI Translator may store translated text locally in a translation cache. The cache is used to avoid sending the same text to Workers AI repeatedly, improving speed and reducing unnecessary use of your Cloudflare Workers AI quota.

You can remove cached translations at any time by using the Clear translation cache option in the extension.

2.8 Local Usage Statistics

The extension may maintain local usage statistics such as:

  • Number of translation requests
  • Number of Workers AI requests
  • Cache hits
  • Number of source and translated characters
  • Estimated token usage

These statistics are generated and stored locally for your own reference. They are not analytics collected by chatgpt.org.uk and are not transmitted to an analytics or advertising service.

3. How Translation Data Is Used

Website text and other content selected for translation are used solely to provide translation-related functionality.

Depending on your settings, translation may occur when:

  • You manually translate a webpage
  • You enable automatic translation
  • You translate selected text
  • You use Shift-hover translation
  • You invoke input-field translation
  • You enable YouTube subtitle translation

The extension does not use translation content for advertising, profiling, credit scoring, lending decisions, or unrelated purposes.

4. Cloudflare Workers AI

Workers AI Translator does not operate its own translation backend. Translation content is transmitted over HTTPS directly to Cloudflare APIs using the Cloudflare account authorized by the user.

Cloudflare processes data submitted to Workers AI according to its own privacy policy, service agreements, and Workers AI data usage terms.

You can review Cloudflare's policies here:

Your use of Cloudflare and Workers AI is also subject to the terms applicable to your own Cloudflare account.

5. Data We Do Not Sell or Use for Advertising

Workers AI Translator does not sell user data.

The extension does not transfer user data to advertising networks, data brokers, or information resellers, and does not use webpage or translation content for personalized advertising.

User data is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

6. Third-Party Data Sharing

User data is transferred to Cloudflare only when necessary to provide Cloudflare authentication, authorized account discovery, and Workers AI translation functionality.

Workers AI Translator does not send translation content, authentication credentials, browsing activity, or extension settings to servers operated by chatgpt.org.uk.

Data may also be disclosed where required by applicable law or when necessary to protect users, the extension, or others from fraud, abuse, malware, security threats, or other unlawful activity.

7. Data Storage and Retention

Extension data such as settings, glossary entries, translation cache, Cloudflare account information, OAuth credentials, website rules, and local usage statistics are stored using Chrome extension storage on your device.

Local information generally remains until you remove it, disconnect your Cloudflare account, clear the relevant extension data, or uninstall the extension.

When you select Disconnect, the extension attempts to revoke the current Cloudflare access token and removes locally stored Cloudflare OAuth credentials and account information.

Translation content sent to Cloudflare is subject to Cloudflare's own data retention and processing practices.

8. Data Security

Communication with Cloudflare is performed using HTTPS.

Workers AI Translator does not include remotely hosted executable code. JavaScript and CSS used by the extension are packaged with the extension distributed through the Chrome Web Store.

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should avoid translating sensitive information if they do not want that information processed by Cloudflare Workers AI.

9. User Controls

You control when and how Workers AI Translator operates. Available controls include:

  • Connecting or disconnecting your Cloudflare account
  • Enabling or disabling automatic webpage translation
  • Enabling or disabling hover translation
  • Enabling or disabling input-field translation
  • Enabling or disabling YouTube subtitle translation
  • Configuring per-site translation rules
  • Editing or removing custom glossary entries and prompts
  • Clearing the local translation cache
  • Resetting local usage statistics
  • Uninstalling the extension

10. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure

Workers AI Translator's use and transfer of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

User data is used only to provide or improve the extension's disclosed single purpose of translating web content and related translation interactions.

You can review the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy here: Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies .

11. Children's Privacy

Workers AI Translator is a general-purpose browser translation tool and is not specifically directed to children. The extension does not knowingly collect personal information for advertising or profiling purposes.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when the extension's functionality, data practices, third-party services, or applicable requirements change.

When material changes affect how user data is handled, the updated policy will be published on this page and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
