Play-Based Curriculum
Little Lambs follows the Welsh Foundation Phase framework, which encourages active, creative learning for every three- to seven-year-old in Wales. Children investigate, make mistakes, and solve problems through real-world play that covers language, maths, expressive arts, physical development, and well-being.
Bilingual Learning Environment
Denbighshire is proudly bilingual, and the nursery reflects this heritage: families may choose sessions delivered mainly through English or Welsh, giving children a confident head start in the language that best suits their future schooling.
Daily Sessions & Flexibility
Whether you need full-day care, a half-day top-up, an early Breakfast Club, or wrap-around sessions that dovetail with local school hours, Little Lambs can tailor a plan that suits every routine.
Indoor & Outdoor Spaces
Bright classrooms, a cosy reading nook, and a dedicated “Investigation Station” invite children to explore loose-parts play, early science, and role-play. Outside, a growing garden features raised beds, bug hotels, and plenty of room for scooters, ball games, and messy mud-kitchen fun—rain or shine.
Qualified, Caring Staff
The setting is led by supervisor Carla Shaw, working alongside founder Sam Maitland-Price. All practitioners hold recognised Welsh early-years or childcare qualifications and refresh their paediatric first-aid and safeguarding training every three years.
Health, Safety & Well-Being
Little Lambs is working through the Healthy Pre-School Scheme, promoting balanced nutrition, daily outdoor activity, oral health, and emotional resilience. Rooms and resources are sanitised four times a day, and the onsite kitchen can cater for allergies and dietary preferences.
Help with Fees
- Flying Start – targeted funding for eligible two-year-olds.
- Childcare Offer Wales – up to 30 funded hours a week for working families of three- and four-year-olds.
- Early Entitlement / Early Education – 10 free hours a week from the term after a child’s third birthday.
How to Apply
Denbighshire’s nursery admission window usually opens in late September and closes in mid-February for places the following academic year (e.g. applications for September 2025 closed on 17 February 2025). Late applications are still accepted but are processed after on-time forms. You can apply online via the council’s Education Self-Service portal or request a paper form directly from the nursery.
Prospective families are warmly encouraged to book a personal tour—call or email to arrange a convenient date.
Family Partnership & Community Links
Parents receive real-time photo and video updates through a secure mobile app, plus a full learning journal each term. Seasonal open days, charity walks, and gardening mornings bring families and the wider community together.
